Technology stocks edged up Wednesday morning amid gains in the broader market as investors wrapped up 2008. Google Inc. (GOOG) and Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) led the tech advance in early trading. Shares of Google were up 2%, while Yahoo was ahead 1.8%.

Chrome or Firefox if you want speed says company. Google currently lists IE7, Firefox 2.0 and later releases, Chrome and Safari as the only supported browsers for Gmail . Others, including Opera and older editions of IE, Firefox and Safari, can be used to access the e-mail service but aren’t able to handle some of its features.
